1.2 km of crane runway for a steel service centre, blasted and coated in four weeks.
A steel service centre extended its hall with two new bays and 1.2 km of runway for 20-tonne overhead cranes. The hall is heated and dry, but runways are hard to reach once the cranes are running, so the coating had to last without maintenance. The zones under the rail clamps had to stay free of paint.
We ran the beams through blasting and painting in a fixed rhythm of two runway lines a week. Top flanges were masked where the rails and clamps sit, so the rails bed directly on steel. A two-coat system kept the cycle short without giving up film thickness. Every beam left the line marked with its position in the hall.
Deliveries followed the erection plan bay by bay. The cranes were commissioned on time, and the runway coating passed the acceptance inspection without remarks.
